Light comes through a flat diffuser set into the top of the shade, so it throws upward and outward rather than down onto the table, and a touch ring at the centre steps the brightness. The shade tapers out over a slim upright stem on a flat square base, all finished in a flat matte black that keeps reflections off it. There is no cord in use, so it moves between table, counter and shelf and goes back on charge afterwards.
