This flat steel template does the job a compass, a protractor and a steady hand normally have to do between them. Nested arc slots of graduated radii sit in one corner and straight angle slots run through the middle, so a scriber or a fine marker traces the shape directly onto the workpiece with the tool resting flat against it. It works on box section, flat plate and tube, and because the geometry is cut into the plate rather than set by hand, the second piece marks out identically to the first — which is the whole point when you are cutting a run of matching miters or repeating the same curve down a length of steel. Thin enough to live in a toolbox drawer or a back pocket.
